JOB TITLE: Molding Extrusion Tech I (1st Shift)

JOB SUMMARY

Works independently to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and improve injection molding and plastic extrusion equipment. Daily activities to maintain the injection molding and plastic extrusion equipment include performing PM's and monitoring equipment performance. Job duties also include troubleshooting and repair on mechanical, pneumatic; hydraulic, electrical, and controls systems with regards to the injection molding and plastic extrusion equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Performs repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on all plastic molding and extrusion equipment.
  • Performs mold setups and mold insert changes.
  • Performs final mold fitting for insert shutoffs.
  • Performs extrusion line setup and startup as well as shut down and cleaning. Makes process changes as needed.
  • Applies aptitude for mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical repairs and knows when to consult with engineers on any technical problems beyond ability.
  • Ensures the calibrations are current on all machines and ensure proper operations after calibration.
  • Comprehends and performs all engineering changes on which trained.
  • Performs documentation and regulatory recordkeeping responsibilities.
  • Prepares proposals for expenditures on equipment repairs and replacements.
  • Coordinates work of outside mold makers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Continues to develop technical skills and knowledge (e.g. additional schooling, self-study, online training, and from more knowledgeable team members)
  • Responds and executes work with a sense of urgency and utilizes support systems to minimize downtime.
  • Provides operation training on the systems to maintenance techs and production operations.
  • Works to support dept. KPI's/Metrics/Objectives
  • Performs tasks in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, GMP and cleanroom requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May be required to work on other shifts and/or willing to be "on call" as needed or schedules.
  • May lead special projects and assist supervisor with audits and/or recordkeeping.
  • May handle, collect, label, and transfer hazardous waste following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Must successfully complete training on biohazards.
  • Must be able to use lifting equipment such as bridge cranes, jib cranes to lift molds and equipment in excess of 5000 pounds.
  • Assists with spare parts inventory including purchasing spare parts, equipment and/or services, ordering parts, and tracking material and parts usage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Experience

Minimum 5-years' experience with direct plastic processing experience

  • Substitution of degree with relevant experience is evaluated on a case-by-case basis as to relevancy to the specific electronic and mechanical maintenance required in the work area to be assigned.

    1. Experienced with injection molding, plastics processing, plastic extrusion, tooling and assembly and awareness of polymer behaviors.
    2. Hands-on injection molding set-up experience and knowledge of mold design and construction.
    3. Hands-on plastic extrusion set-up experience and knowledge of die design and construction.
    4. Capable of doing mold maintenance including mold configurations without error.
    5. Capable of performing extrusion maintenance, cleanings, and configuration without error.
    6. Skilled in cleanroom and automated processes
    7. Compliance with all safety requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing Environment requirements include: use of personal protective equipment, reading, speaking, hearing, walking, bending, standing, stretching/reaching, and hand/finger dexterity.

  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment, adhere to associated policies, and perform gowning of clean room attire in the allotted time prior to start up.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transport up to 6000 pounds via carts or mechanized equipment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity including ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to maintain pace with the assembly line.
  • Requires the ability to regularly perform repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to work under florescent lighting.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand through the duration of a shift.
  • Requires the ability to use hand tools to sufficiently meet torque requirements on bolts.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to operate within tight spaces.
  • Strength, agility, dexterity to climb ladders, move in/out/on the equipment to perform set-ups and maintenance.

Target Pay Range:$26.00to$33.00- Hourly pay rateto be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:7.0%
