Purpose

The Managing Director of McCombs Employer Recruiting is a senior leadership role on the McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations team.The key purpose of this role is to build, maintain, and grow our partnerships with employers seeking top talent and drive recruiting strategic engagement for industry partners with access to McCombs resources. Responsibilities

Creates strategic vision for future of Texas McCombs recruiting.

  • Develop long-term vision and strategy to successfully position the portfolio of Texas McCombs talent in an increasingly competitive and disrupted marketplace. Cultivate and grow our McCombs employer recruiting ecosystem for all McCombs undergraduate and graduate programs (BBA, MPA, MS, MSTC, Full-Time MBA, Working Professional MBA, and Executive MBA Programs) and alumni of those programs.
  • Spearhead macro and micro market research to understand economic impacts on industry hiring. Predict and capitalize on trends and emerging developments in global marketplace. Ensure that the team is innovative and nimble in response to market changes and employment trends including evolving talent needs due to global pandemic, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and other factors changing the nature of work.
  • Build and implement business development strategy and lead business development team for all McCombs undergraduate and graduate programs.

Drives excellence in employer relationship management and student career outcomes while continuing to improve and innovate. Market Texas McCombs' distinction and increase visibility through external outreach, engagement and partnership.

  • Lead recruiting operations strategy across all programs. Maintain and enhance our approach to recruitment account management, career center operations (Rowling Hall Interview Center and Ford Career Center), technology, and event management.
  • Manage strong relationships with the portfolio of employers who are active, involved, and new to on-campus recruiting. Provide recruitment strategy recommendations for potential new accounts and existing portfolio. Develop KPI scorecard to monitor team performance.
  • Develop, implement, and innovate our employer and alumni engagement & event strategy to support networking opportunities for students across all McCombs undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide creative and customized ways for employers to connect with talent. Reinvigorate employer communication strategy with demand generation marketing approach.

Provides inspiring leadership and support to dedicated staff.

  • Lead a large team of directors, managers and staff who are dedicated and committed to building and cultivating a strong employer and alumni ecosystem.
  • Ensure that adequate systems and resources are available to manage growth and development of staff.
  • Foster an environment where staff are recognized as innovative and productive members of Texas McCombs community. Encourage collaboration, innovation, ownership and accountability.

Required Qualifications
  • Master degree in business, education, or a related field and 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced leader with a proven track record of success in leadership positions within complex, multi-constituent, mission-driven organizations.
  • Extensive experience in business development, relationship management, strategy, innovation, and leading large teams.
  • Proven success scaling employer/client facing teams and exceeding targets and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with executive-level employer stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing a complex team and portfolio of projects. Demonstrated success in assessing situations with multiple outcomes and consequences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate difficult and complex matters effectively to a range of audiences and skill levels.
  • Ability to be nimble and flexible with change.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and/or other remote communication technologies as well as webinars.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of leading teams, 10+ years of experience in business development, consulting, or business planning in the higher education or corporate sector.
  • Strong analytical background or work experiences.
  • Entrepreneurial leader who can form alignment around the pursuit of important goals or the response to substantial challenges; apply strong organizational, leadership, and management skills in order to be an effective agent of change to enhance our team and school's mission.
  • Proven success in collaborating with employers on developing talent pipeline across work experience and educational levels that span all programs at McCombs (BBA, MPA, MS, MSTC, Full-Time MBA, Working Professional MBA, and Executive MBA Programs).

Salary Range

$120,000 + depending on qualification

Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Requires flexibility for weekend/evening events and programming.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. This position is not eligible for sponsorship of work visas.
  • This is an Austin, TX-based position and is eligible for hybrid work.
