Job Summary
Seeking a dedicated Library Assistant IV to lead our Access Services during extended hours. This supervisory role ensures the smooth operation of the library's public service unit throughout the night. The successful candidate will maintain high-quality customer service and uphold departmental standards.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a library setting; or any comparable combination of education, supervisory training or experience, and practical experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Proven experience in customer service and library operations.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with library databases and information technology.
  • Commitment to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all library users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise the overnight activities of three service desks, the copy center, study rooms, and media equipment.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for patrons, providing assistance and clarifying library policies and procedures.
  • Monitor security gates and enforce entrance policies to maintain a secure environment.
  • Ensure efficient workflow and quality customer service at service desks.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of library systems to manage material circulation and service delivery.
  • Support patrons in locating materials and navigating the library's digital resources.
  • Address and resolve patron account inquiries and issues.
  • Train, oversee, and evaluate the performance of overnight staff and student employees.
  • Handle customer concerns with professionalism, courtesy, and poise.
  • Maintain records, compile statistics, and complete special projects as assigned.
  • Communicate any issues effectively to the supervisor, morning staff, and evening supervisor.
Physical Activities
Working Conditions Other - Must be able to lift, carry, retrieve and replace materials that can weigh up to 15lbs & must be able to remain in a standing or a seated position for extended periods of time while performing a variety of tasks.

Work will be performed on site and in-person. The overnight schedule for this position is Sunday through Friday, 10:30 PM - 7:30 AM.
