Purpose

Responsible for advanced student program administration and coordination within the University Writing Center (UWC), including hiring, training, and managing consultants, organizing writing retreats and workshops, communicating with other units on campus, offering one-on-one consultations, scheduling services, and participating in UWC program assessment. Recommends new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities. Coordinates staff training and development related to the UWC. Conducts marketing assessment for assigned area.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain active involvement in the Writing Center and Graduate Writing Scholarship programs while contributing to UWC administration. Conduct regular program assessments of University Writing Center graduate services. Hold regular meetings with other UWC core administrators (Director, Assistant Director, Operations Manager) to discuss program budget, assessment, and potential projects aimed at expanding services. Collaborate with UWC core administrative staff on strategic planning, assessment, social media management, and floor operations. Ensure efficient and timely assessment of UWC graduate services.
  • Work in conjunction with Department Manager on budgeting and setting priorities. Meets regularly with OGS to discuss program budget, assessment, and potential projects aimed at expanding services.
  • Organize hiring, training, and supervising of consultants and presenters for University Writing Center graduate student services.
  • Continue engagement with the Writing Center and Graduate Writing Scholarship by actively participating in relevant scholarly organizations, conferences, and publications. Coordinate intra-university and community outreach efforts. Write grants to secure funding for new graduate writing research and projects. As international student population grows (currently 29% of all graduate students), expands services and English Language Learning programming. Attends and presents research at national and international conferences on the topic of graduate student education and mentoring/support
  • Offer one-on-one consultations, create and collate relevant resources (print and digital), prepare timely and accurate reports on request.
  • Coordinate a minimum of two summer dissertation and graduate writing workshops. Collaborate with other staff members to schedule, organize, staff, and facilitate various graduate services, including writing retreats, writing groups, orientation sessions, and presentations.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of responsible level experience in student-centric higher education program administration or program coordination. Superior interpersonal skills. Experience providing superior customer service. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent time-management skills, and attention to detail. Professional demeanor with tact and respect at all times. Demonstrated expertise working with student populations. Confidence working with Microsoft Excel and Word. Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to learn quickly and work independently. Strong data and account management skills. Experience working in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service. Experience with Jotform or similar platforms. Ability to learn new technology. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree, PhD or EdD. Ability to multi-task, operate successfully under high-pressure situations. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and flexibly in a fast-paced environment. One to three years of experience in student affairs. Experience working with UT students and faculty. Demonstrated creative and analytical thinking. Demonstrated ability to multitask. Experience with student resources at The University of Texas at Austin and UT Austin student success programs. Experience with university writing centers. Familiarity with writing in multiple disciplines. Experience planning events. Experience in assessment of educational outcomes in student activities. Familiarity with university policies and procedures. Multilingual.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
