Position Description

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Academic Programs: Monitors and evaluates academic program enrollment, academic advising and graduation success of regional site students. Develops effective outreach to academic degree target audience. Coordinates and reports program activities and student support with TTU Online and with other TTU organizations as appropriate.
  • Non-Academic Credential Programs: Works with TTU Online Continuing Education to develop and implement local micro-credentials in partnership with business, education, government and nonprofit entities to serve regional workforce needs. Pursues different sources of funding to support micro-credential programs. Develops effective outreach to organizations and to adult learners to promote micro-credential opportunities.
  • Team: Hires, develops and encourages regional site staff needed to meet the evolving needs of the regional site in its goals with TTU Online and with the Highland Lakes communities. Promotes a learning organization culture for the regional site team, emphasizing professional growth and team effectiveness.
  • Partnerships: Builds existing partnerships with regional organizations to increase effectiveness and strategic focus. Reaches out to establish new partnerships providing mutual benefit and community service. Draws on the guidance and expertise of the local Advisory Board composed of community leaders. Works closely with the active Highland Lakes chapter of Texas Tech alumni to support fundraising events and scholarship decisions. Serves actively in community based organizations.
  • Finances: Manages fiscal year budget provided by TTU Online as well as the revenue and expenses of micro credential programs, with the support and oversight of TTU Online financial staff. Monitors regional site expenditures to ensure funding is available to support strategic ventures not anticipated at the time of budget development.
  • Operations: Works closely with the IT Support Specialist IV staff member who manages facility needs and expenses (included contracted building and outdoor maintenance crews), technology, and IT help to all regional site staff and building partners at both the Highland Lakes and Fredericksburg regional sites. Promotes the Texas Tech brand within the region by coordinating available meeting and classroom facilities for community groups.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate or master's degree. An understanding of online and distance delivery technologies and the issues associated with distance and continuing education. Prior experience as a demonstrated leader. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to, local communities, university administration, staff, and alumni. Successful leadership and demonstrated accomplishment developing and attaining strategic goals and objectives. Prior business experience.
