Petco is a category-defining health and wellness company focused on improving the lives of pets, pet parents and Petco partners. Essential Job Functions:

The partner must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Provides expert counsel to functional management and HR staff on compensation issues related to Petco pay structures, pay change recommendations, new hire offers, wage and hour regulations, policy/procedure interpretation, incentive programs, etc.

  • Conducts job analysis to determine FLSA exemption and salary grade assignment based on external market data, internal equity and compensation guidelines. Ensures grade assignment is externally competitive and internally equitable across Petco.

  • Plays an integral role in the design, analysis and administration of short-term variable pay programs.

  • Develops and executes compensation education for partners of varying levels across the organization.

  • Performs additional compensation analysis as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, preferably majoring in human resources, business administration, or accounting preferred. Certification (CCP) or advanced training in compensation preferred.

  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with HR Staff (E.g., Business Partners, Human Resources Information Systems/IT and Talent Management) in support of management compensation matters.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully persuade, influence, negotiate and communicate alternatives and solutions to all levels of associate.

  • Ability to proactively identify compensation concerns and formulate solutions and recommendations for further review and approval.

  • Advanced knowledge regarding common compensation practices usually acquired via compensation courses and/or 5-9 years of experience. (Compa-ratio, salary ranges, job evaluation, etc.)

  • Knowledge of FLSA with in-depth knowledge of Federal and State exemption standards and requirements.

  • Knowledge of relevant Federal and State wage payment laws.

  • Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.

  • Previous experience with Workday, or other human capital management technology solutions.
