The Sr. Revenue Accountant is responsible for the proper accounting of the company's revenues. This includes maintaining properly controlled systems and processes, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies and procedures, and performing month/quarterly close requirements including reporting.

The candidate should be analytical with strong problem solving and technical skills, possess excellent communication, organizational and decision-making skills, possess the ability to work with extreme accuracy under pressure, and provide solid advice/data to others while demonstrating strong team building skills.

Essential Functions

  • Review deals for proper revenue recognition under ASC 606
  • Assist sales and legal teams with contract negotiations by participating in discussions, reviewing draft contracts, and providing revenue recognition recommendations.
  • Collaborate with legal, sales, operations, and finance to evaluate new licensing or subscription models.
  • Evaluate impacts to revenue recognition and communicate key risks to accounting management including preparing technical accounting memos.
  • Actively participate with monthly and quarterly close activities.
  • Maintain and update internal control documentation for revenue recognition and support audits of related controls.
  • Review and support all revenue recognition disclosures in company financials.
  • Create detailed revenue reporting as needed for management purposes.
  • Monitor industry/regulatory changes with respect to revenue recognition and develop new processes and policies to address them accordingly.
  • Assist in the transition of business processes into a new accounting system.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience, CPA preferred
* 3-5 years technical accounting experience (preferably with a focus on Revenue Recognition) in public accounting and corporate environments
* Demonstrate technical knowledge and thorough understanding of GAAP in the area of revenue recognition, preferably in a software environment. Must have a sound knowledge of ASC 606 / IFRS 15
* Ability to perform in depth research on complex technical accounting matters and effectively summarize conclusions
* System savvy and ability to work with various applications; experience with Salesforce and RevPro a plus
* Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially MS Excel) required
* Demonstrate excellent organization skills and the ability to handle multiple, competing tasks simultaneously.
