Job Details:

Assist faculty members and other University research staff in the preparation, submission, and maintenance of research proposals to sponsoring agencies and organizations of new and existing research grants.

Job Details:

Provide preaward budget development and post-award budget oversight for research faculty. Will monitor administrative and budget related compliance issues.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with university departments and offices as appropriate to include interfacing with representatives from the Office of Sponsored Projects, Human Resource Service Center, Vice-President for Business Affairs, and Vice President for Research to manage complex both pre- and post-award issues.

  • Monitor account balances to ensure that account is in good standing. Promptly address deficits by performing budget transfers or costing allocation updates as needed. Provide recommendations to faculty to ensure that funds are being allocated timely in accordance with sponsor's guidelines.

  • Prepare budget projections and distribute financial reports to Principal Investigators on a monthly basis. Providing assistance/training interpreting Statement of Accounts.

  • Oversee faculty requests for leave process to ensure that research buyout and funding commitments are appropriately applied and managed at the department level.

  • Assist researchers with technical and financial reporting requirements to aid in the submission of the sponsor's annual review process.

  • Assist faculty with initiating subawards agreements in UT Research Management System.

  • Utilize internal and/or external systems associated with management of fiscal accounts to include *DEFINE, Cognos, Workday as well as electronic proposal and subcontract submissions (i.e., Research Management System (RMS), eRA Commons, FastLane, ORCID, NIH Commons, Cayuse, SciENcv, etc.). May provide technical assistance to faculty to address troubleshooting access issues with systems as needed.

  • Oversee HR related processes to support the full employment lifecycle of employees, contingent workers and affiliated workers funded by sponsored awards. For student employees, monitors eligibility for work, responds to questions related to tuition/benefits concerning insurance, tuition waiver or exemptions processes. Coordinates the approval of tuition reduction benefits for graduate students in Financial Resources Management Services (FRMS).

  • Participate in internal professional development to remain current with UT, local, state and federal guidelines, and regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or a technical/scientific field. Three-years experience in governmental or commercial accounts, or similar experience in customer service or quality management. Extensive experience in computer spreadsheet and word processing applications (MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro). Ability to exercise sound decision making and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain accuracy and pay close attention to details. Ability to self-organize to complete routine, recurring tasks with flexibility to respond to urgent, unexpected requests. Service mentality focused on meeting the needs of the internal and external stakeholders.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than three years of the above experience. Experience using Workday, PointPlus & Research Management System. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work both independently and as a team member without day-to-day supervision. Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of federal guidelines pertaining to institutions of higher education. Ability to review and interpret the terms and conditions of research grants and contracts.

Salary Range

$65,000+ (negotiable, based on relevant experience)
