What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking full-time, senior and managing-level coastal engineers for our Austin, Houston, or Corpus Christi, Texas offices to help lead our Texas and gulf coast project teams with coastal engineering, flood resiliency, and water resources projects. We are interested in candidates who are quick learners, detail-orientated, committed team players, and who possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. More than one applicant may be considered, and varying levels as multiple positions are available. Applicants will have between 8 - 12 years of experience with coastal engineering, including hydrodynamic and/or hydraulic numerical modeling experience. Experience with coastal engineering concepts such as shoreline protection, living shorelines, and "engineering with nature" are preferred. Experience with water resources concepts such as hydrology and water quality are also preferred, as is proficiency using CAD, GIS, and/or programming languages, such as python.

Responsibilities:

  • Coastal engineering, including coastal processes, shoreline erosion protection, wetland protection and restoration, and "engineering with nature" concepts.
  • Manage projects and client relationships.
  • Conduct flood hazard and flood resiliency evaluations, including numerical modeling, adaptive management strategies, and infrastructure evaluation and design.
  • Plan and design beneficial use of dredged material projects, including green alternatives, regional sediment management, wetland and island restoration, and development and implementation of innovative reuse practices.
  • Lead hydrologic, hydraulic, water quality, and environmental flows data analysis, modeling, and strategy for water resources projects.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of environmental data.
  • Develop, plan, and write sampling and analysis plans and design documents.
  • Participation in professional organizations.
  • Developing client relationships and then leading proposals and contributing to the sales process.
  • Mentors junior staff and performs quality control reviews

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g., Coastal, Ocean, Civil or Environmental Engineering)
  • 8 to 12 years of experience
  • Experience with coastal engineering and flood resiliency evaluations
  • Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and/or water quality numerical modeling
  • Understanding the application of engineering principles for engineering design, including cost estimating, and development of plans and specifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
  • ArcGIS experience a plus
  • Python experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within two years.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)
  • Experience with environmental sampling and data analysis
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for field projects or client meetings.
