The Digital & Innovation Teaching and Learning Strategist works closely with the associated Program Managers by providing partnership and a feedback loop with VIP Math & Stats instructors/adoptions and potential adoptions. This individual is a strong presenter and oral and written communicator, collaborating effectively across various teams; externally with instructors and users, and cross-functionally with product development, sales, marketing, and technology. This role is key to demonstrate, implement, and troubleshoot Math & Statistics resources/tools by working in consultation with instructors to deliver pedagogically created courses that are instructor/school specific. As we learn information of those schools, the Teaching and Learning Strategist provides a feedback loop of that information, and works towards both iterative improvements, as well as thinking bigger and broadly towards innovation that is compelling and differentiating. Finally, by strategically consulting with program management, this role is key in helping grow digital sales and activations in consultation with program management.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide key findings, both positive and negative, in a constructive method and communicate findings cross collaboratively with Content, Product, Technology, LSI, Sales and Marketing.
  • Work closely with Program Management to help shape and form current revision and/or iterative update strategy.
  • Support for Customers, Sales, Customer Experience, & Marketing: Provide support to customers by helping build courses for VIP instructors prior to first day of class each term. In addition, role can help with pre-sales efforts including syllabus match-ups, presentations of both print and media (either in-person or virtual); responding to questions via email, phone, chat, and Slack, and helping trouble shoot during and after implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with program management on key targets for current year sales campaign, so we can work to grow the business.
  • Develop effective tracking based on Salesforce data, as well as known key competitive adoptions.
  • Brainstorm, create and implement innovative strategies, with both internal and external customers, to help support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Take on new initiatives, such as the Innovation pitch, to work collaboratively with Content and Product partners across the organization.
  • Aim to tackle the biggest common teaching challenges, and do discovery work towards solving them in a distinctively unique and compelling way so that our platforms might have a differentiating advantage vs our competitors.
  • Development and research. E.g., reviewing existing products and ensuring they are up to date and continue to meet quality standards; investigating our competitors' media and supplements offerings; making suggestions/recommendations based on information gathered; and meeting with editorial, LSI and product colleagues to discuss new ventures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 years' experience in educational publishing (college level a plus), collegiate teaching, or other transferable role; understanding of the business, its processes, market, and trends.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, implementing, monitoring, and meeting deadlines for multiple highly complex projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with successful scheduling, resource allocation, and quality assurance.
  • Must be able to analyze and synthesize information from a diverse array of sources in order to understand issues, identify opportunities, anticipate outcomes, and support sound decision making.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in the English language.
  • Able to listen to and communicate clearly and strategically with diverse audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus to achieve objectives.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Proactively assists and seeks input from others to achieve organizational goals.
  • Proven track record of generating viable new approaches and solutions to problems or challenges in an increasingly digital learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in appropriate field.
  • Experience teaching Math and/or Statistics.
  • Experience in customer outreach or customer service.
  • Experience in consultative sales.

Salary: $80,000 - $90,000/year

Exemption Status: Exempt

Physical Requirements:

Position requires focused screen time for long periods as well as multi-tasking and close concentration; may involve working in a noisy/busy open-office environment.

This position requires 10% of overall travel, but will be heavier in key selling season (Feb-April). Otherwise, occasional after-hours meetings/dinners, additional travel out of town 1-2 times per year, sometimes over a weekend will be necessary.

Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week as needed.

The position is eligible for remote employment, excluding the following locations: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming.
