The Design Manager is ultimately responsible for the development and performance of the design team.
Responsibilities
- Coach and develop design team in creating workplace solutions, space planning and product selection.
- Distribute and manage workload among the team.
- Identify gaps in skill set & implement necessary training plan(s).
- Work with the Regional President and Sales team to provide design strategy on major accounts and opportunities by translating client business goals into workplace solutions.
- Represent and facilitate design in major presentations for current and prospective customers by engaging to influence workplace design and lead the client to the most appropriate workplace solutions.
- Communicate project activity in team strategy sessions to ensure appropriate design involvement.
- Conduct performance reviews for design department team members.
- Develop an annual business plan for the department (staffing needs, training opportunities, workflow improvements, etc.).
- Participate in monthly department lead meetings to ensure consistency and continuity in the market goals.
- Ensure the team is meeting all internal and external deadlines.
- Guarantee the accuracy of the team's work (ie avoidance of specification errors).
- Oversee the quality of the Design Department's deliverables (ie level of renderings, floorplates, etc.).
- Responsible for the adoption and usage of technology tools (i.e. Scout, Pricing Guides, proprietary workplace tools, etc.).
