SUMMARY

The primary role of the Inside Mortgage Loan Consultant is to originate mortgage loans for new and existing customer relationships and also manage and work leads from extensive marketing initiatives as determined by management. The Inside Mortgage Loan Consultant position is responsible for educating customers, acting as the subject matter expert on mortgage loan program offerings, completing thorough high-quality mortgage applications, and funding mortgage loans from both internal and external sources. This Consumer Direct position has specific responsibility for origination objectives, production metrics, KPI's, and sales strategies that will support both existing markets as well as underserved markets, and the expansion into new markets.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Uses interpersonal and communication skills via phone and Webex to actively work leads, generate mortgage applications, fund loans, and develop relationships with individuals, existing clients, past clients, and Real Estate Professionals.

Cross sells First United Bank products and services as required.

Works with bank personnel to promote First United Bank and First United Mortgage in assigned markets.

Takes thorough and complete loan applications, analyzes and pre-qualifies applicant information to determine viability of the client's desired loan program.

Pulls credit, analyzes credit, and compares accuracy with the mortgage borrower's documents and loan application information.

Determines the correct loan options for the borrower based upon the applicant's present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.

Submits the complete loan application, preliminary income verification documents, preliminary asset verification documents, loan disclosures, and any required credit explanation letters, and executed application/consent forms to processing.

Counsels the borrower through the application, approval, and closing process - including review of the HUD settlement statement with the borrower prior to closing.

Meets minimum expectations for First United best practices and production standards.

Attends assigned production meetings.

Provides exceptional customer service, maintains high ethical standards, and ensures compliance with every borrower transaction and each borrower engagement.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES

• Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Supervisor.
• Completes all required compliance training, exams, and other requirements on a yearly basis.
• Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
• Dresses professionally.
• In-office position.

Education and Work Experience

• High School diploma or GED required.
• MUST have at least two years' experience in mortgage lending environment and mortgage consultant / loan originator experience required.
• Consumer Direct platform experience preferred.
• Proven record of success for generating sales in a mortgage lending environment.

Technical/Functional Competencies

• Possession of strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of Bank, Mortgage, Federal and State lending and compliance/regulatory matters.
