Work Shift

2nd Shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm)

Flexibility in shift coverage will be important with University Business needs. Rotating weekends and peek operational needs will dictate the schedule to meet business needs. Flexibility is key for this position. Overtime will be required as necessary.

Purpose

To perform supervisory work in leading custodial maintenance staff in performing cleaning assignments. Responsible for leading, assigning, and scheduling work assignments to custodial maintenance staff who perform cleaning assignments in the Texas Union Building.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, involving training and overseeing work, assigning and scheduling the work of a crew, changing assignments as needed and filling in when necessary. Resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, clean windows and remove trash.
  • Use of pressure washing outdoor patio & restrooms - with training
  • Use of outdoor blower
  • Floor care, including shampooing carpets, carpet extraction, using automatic scrubbers and stripping and finishing floors.
  • Oversee and assist in furniture set-ups as per Hospitality Services direction.
  • Use a desktop computer for email, timekeeping and work related functions.

Required Qualifications

Diploma (High School) or GED. Experience following basic work instructions. Two years of experience in custodial maintenance. Supervisory experience.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience doing room set-ups. Experience using floor care equipment, such as shampooers, scrubbers, buffers and extractors. Experience using a pressure washer & outdoor blower. Experience using a desktop computer. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Track record of punctual and regular attendance for employee. Ability to speak, read and understand English. Ability to speak Spanish.

Salary

$45,000 Annually

Working Conditions

  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in all weather conditions.

  • Lifting and moving at least 50 lbs.

Driving Required
