Job Overview

As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for many aspects of general ledger related activities including ensuring the proper application of US GAAP to business transactions, the financial close process, and balance sheet account reconciliations. You will also interact with our external auditors for interim reviews and annual audits. We are looking for someone who has excellent problem-solving skills and enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to support our continued success. An accomplished team player, adept at managing relationships, collaborating and influencing across a variety of organizational functions. This role reports to the Assistant Controller and will provide support to Accounting/Finance team management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end close process as it relates to facilitating month-end tasks, posting and approving journal entries (including intercompany eliminating entries), maintaining detailed general ledger (GL) schedules, and reconciling key accounts.
  • Manage accurate and timely close processes for both month-end and year-end.
  • Support monthly financial reporting, including variance analysis reporting and fielding questions from other business lines.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Maintain accounting schedules (including complex GAAP reporting for debt/equity transactions, leases, intangibles, capitalized software, etc.) and capturing relevant general ledger activity.
  • Support the annual audit process through preparation of audit schedules and fielding any questions.
  • Create and maintain up to date Accounting Policies for all critical general ledger accounting areas.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluate and implement new and improved accounting processes and tools, including ongoing monitoring of internal controls.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding special reporting requests.
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Provide oversight over a team of five or more staff, with an ability to train and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Plan and prioritize assignments and projects in a constantly changing environment.
  • Maintain a pulse on the industry, enabling effective planning in accordance with trends.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements & Skills:

  • 3+ years' experience in an Accounting Manager role with a proven track record of increased responsibilities and scope.
  • Extensive experience working in NetSuite or other large accounting systems.
  • Very hands-on but also loves finding and building better ways to do things.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized and strong analytical and Excel skills
  • Self-confident team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of U.S. GAAP

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or at least 5 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred, not required.
