We are seeking an experienced SAP Principal System Architect to work within our US Operations. The role will be based in our US Headquarters in Austin, TX.

Position Summary:

Principal System Architect

Working in the Information Technology Department, the Systems Architect performs duties across multiple areas of information technology, such as applications, software development, computer hardware, server software, computer support, database analysis, data security, and other areas of the overall IT applications and infrastructure. Responsible for designing and end-to-end system architecture and solution, the Systems Architect also defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. They will understand the business outcomes required and conceive the system interfaces and business application prototypes that deliver those results. The right candidate will be able to identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses and will influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems as well as understanding and recommending emerging technologies required to move the digital transformation forward. The Principal System Architect is recognized as expert in field both internally and externally. Requires highly specialized skill set. Influences best practices within discipline. Conducts the most complex and vital work, unsupervised and with complete latitude for independent judgment

This is a US role requiring alignment with Global Teams based in Japan, Japan factories, Japan based IT / PMO and Europe.As such there is requirement to be an active participant on calls that can occur outside of normal US business hours.Business will be flexible in balancing time requirements and expect flexibility in working hours in return.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Japan HQ, Japan IT, Cross team, and Development Partners ensure that environment architecture is aligned, scalable and integrated.
  • Work with business leaders to ensure key milestones for various Global / Local project are met.
  • Prepares the Migration Rehearsal Plans
  • Provides clear summary of progress on preparation to IT program Implementation Lead and Project Manager, clearly explaining risks and mitigation recommendations.
  • Ensures business is ready to take ownership of S/4HANA going forward (handover) including documenting needs for ongoing system improvements.
  • Provide reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment to strategy.
  • Create working relationships with project managers, business stakeholders, and other PMO's.
  • Facilitate governance process.
  • Oversee end-to-end risk management to identify themes.
  • Facilitate dependency management across the projects and programs.
  • Facilitate change control process.
  • Track deliverables and benefit realization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience in IT, Business Administration, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
  • Must be able / willing to travel to Japan and various regional and global sites as required approximately 20% of the time
  • The ability to communicate politely, clearly, and effectively to persuade and/or influence internal and/or external customers at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with minimal guidance.
  • Working knowledge of release management tools for SAP.
  • Partnering with Global IT teams and External partners.
  • Project Management experience within context of SAP and Data Architecture.
  • Be well versed with the latest SAP technologies and technology roadmap.
  • Experience with MS Office, including MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Being able to work on multiple cross functional projects simultaneously.
  • Utilize quantitative/analytical as part of problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred:

  • Experience in global environments a strong plus - Will be working with IT teams from Japan and Europe
  • Work experiences at manufacturing companies (preferably within the Semiconductor Industry)
  • Project Management Professionals (PMP), SCRUM, AGILE certifications are preferred, but not required.
  • Possess understanding in the areas of application programming, database, and system design.
  • Understand how legacy, web based and hosted systems interface with each other.
  • Understand Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures.
  • Strong SQL skills, or equivalent reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP Modules (FI, CO, WM, QM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP integrations to major systems and cloud-services such as SAP Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Concur, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, payment processors, tax services (including Vertex), EDI, and shipping services.
  • Able to speak and understand Japanese is a plus.
