Job Summary

Assure compliance of safety, environmental, quality, and operational objectives in the cement operations, through technical and hand on operational support. Identify, create, and implement actions derived from the operational model promoting a safe and engaging work place following CEMEX Standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work following the Mission, Vision and Values of CEMEX, lead by example.
  • Assures training requirements for all the Production and Quality departments (from Management to Hourly), identifies, and creates plans for compliance and conducts training
  • Assures operational continuity by establishing, training and following standards for equipment operation.
  • Assures the CEMEX Operational Model follow up at all plants.
  • Innovate and push the company forward through research, development and new technology.
  • Verifies and applies all quality systems, procedures and meets objectives.
  • Verifies and applies all environmental standards, assures limit compliance and optimizes reagent use through the correct operation of equipment through all cement plants.
  • Innovation and research to minimize environmental impact and cost
  • CO2 reduction expert and guide at all plants, following and guaranteeing short, middle and long term plans.
  • Actions focused on improving yield, utilization and quality on main and secondary equipment.
  • Lead, trains and assure compliance of autonomous maintenance routines.
  • Establishes Process definitions, criteria, actions and follow up with management at plants.
  • Participates and leads task forces to improve plant conditions.
  • Leads, follows and train personnel on RCA methodology and execution.
  • Process and Benchmark studies, using CEMEX's global networks.
  • Refractory Leader, planning and execution, assuring outages optimization.
  • Project proposal, definition and execution. CAPEX Business Cases 5-year plans and prioritization.
  • Optimum capacity of all equipment definition and optimization.


Safety Responsibilities

  • Adhere and ensure all CEMEX, MSHA, O.S.H.A., and other safety rules and regulations at all times. Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds (including but not limited to clothing, hardhat, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves, etc.)
  • Assure all plant personnel (direct and indirect report) work in a safe environment, guarantee all required tools are available to perform a safe task and ensure risk assessments are conducted and follow up on safety hazard identifications and procedures.
  • Creates and evaluate safety systems essentials at all plants.
  • Ensure people have skills and training needed to perform in a safe and productive manner, be able to train personnel to assure compliance.
  • Assures operational areas are up to safety standards, all deviations are identified and corrected.
  • Participate on safety committees, risk assessment, training, standard work, assist in developing safety programs, monitor plant operations to assist in ensuring safe job performance
  • Participate in near miss and accident investigations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemistry or Chemical preferred) or related major
  • 2-5 years progressive experience within the heavy industrial manufacturing industry, preferred.
  • Availability at all times to work and resolve issues of assigned area
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Cement experience and knowledge in quality, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability and Leadership to manage and develop people, communication, team work and collaboration with different areas.
  • Result oriented, identifies issues, and drives the decision process, through an analytic mind, coordinate and work on different activities simultaneously
  • Ability to plan and coordinate activities within supervised personnel and other departments
  • Self-motivated, fast learner in high paced working environment
  • Detail oriented and ability to set priorities and complete goals and objectives in a timely and orderly manner
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Computer savvy, Microsoft Office software
Working Conditions
  • High Availability for traveling
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
  • Must be capable of working at heights and confined spaces
  • Must pass physical screening, hearing test and drug/alcohol screen
