The Media Specialist works with the marketing team to support external communication strategies across all digital touchpoints, including owned channels, press, influencer marketing, and crisis response. This role is responsible for bolstering Communication Service for the Deaf and its subsidiaries' reputation in the competitive B2C, B2B, and B2G markets. This includes developing and executing communication plans, implementing paid ad campaigns, and coordinating media interviews to position our organizations as thought leaders who provide exemplary service. The role will work closely with department leaders to ensure all communications align with the brand's goals and objectives. The goal for each brand is to maximize the reach of each campaign and attract qualified leads through all available channels, ensuring the mix of owned + earned channels combined contribute to the overall reach and enhancement of the company's bottom line. This role requires experience in various skills, including media training, writing, script writing, ad development, influencer management, and crisis response.

Requirements
  • Plan, design, implement and monitor press, media, and thought-leadership campaigns internally and for external clients.
  • Create, curate, and manage multi-channel paid ad campaigns for internal and external clients, focusing on maximizing our reach and generating qualified leads.
  • Work with constituents, including internal staff, influencers, and journalists, to best communicate our mission and position our brands as industry leaders.
  • Leverage existing tools (GA4, Constant Contact, Perfect Audience, Looker Data Studio) to set up accurate reporting to track the success of outreach efforts.
  • Write articles, talking points, press releases, ad copy, scripts, sales materials, and more to effectively communicate our mission to multiple audiences.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to identify events, conversations, and campaigns that CSD, our subsidiary brands, and internal leaders can use to connect with media outlets and leverage our messaging.
  • Build strong relationships with media contacts, influencers, industry leaders, and creators on behalf of the brand.
  • Support subsidiaries in developing community and media partnerships and brand-building events that amplify mission-driven initiatives.
  • Manage advertising (digital, print, direct mail, OTT, radio etc.) budgets for internal and external clients.
  • Identify appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and report key metrics from digital campaigns.
  • Manage tracking and reporting of digital marketing-related activities and provide analyses and recommendations.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the company's earned and owned media efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services through paid and earned media strategies, including paid advertising, media relations, and event coordination.
  • Excellent writing, creative, communication, copywriting, and copyediting skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to write for different audiences.
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Strong communications expertise, particularly in media/ social media, focusing on LinkedIn and other B2B channels. Experience with editors and traditional press will be a plus.
  • Ability to counsel sales staff, senior leaders, press, and influencers on talking points, media relations, and best practices in representing our brands.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and can multi-task, prioritize, and complete projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience?
  • Three or more years of professional experience in media relations, brand writing, reputation management, digital advertising B2B or B2G or a similar field
  • Proficiency in Knowledge of Ad Management Platforms (Meta, Google Ads, Perfect Audience, etc.) Business Writing (Press Releases, Scripts, Sales Materials, etc.), Microsoft Office, Social Media Platforms, Google Analytics.


Work Environment / Physical Requirements

This highly self-directed position requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position uses a computer and standard office equipment to work in a virtual office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. The position may require travel up to 5%.

Salary Description
$51,000 - $57,000/year
