The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) is the nation's voice for community banks with its mission to create and promote an environment where community banks flourish. What Is a Community Bank? A community bank is a depository or lending institution that primarily serves businesses and individuals in a small geographic area. Community banks tend to emphasize personal relationships with their customers.

The 2023 ICBA Summer Intern program will be from June 5th to August 4th. The program will be a learning experience and help you gain valuable job experience and develop essential skills. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership, work on meaningful projects, participate in learning and development opportunities and join in networking and social events with other Team Members and fellow interns. Our goal is to have a hybrid program that will be both virtual and in-person. Final determination will be made closer to the program start date.

The ICBA Strategic Solutions team is looking for an enthusiastic intern to support its vendor engagement and ThinkTech initiatives.

In this position, the intern will develop strategic business, marketing, and event management skills through ongoing communications with service providers, facilitation of unique marketing endeavors, internal and external meetings, and logistical support. The applicant will track member engagement and vendor performance through ICBA's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, assist companies in updating/upgrading their profiles in the ICBA Solutions Directory, verifying vendor contacts, and other duties as assigned. The applicant will gain experience with data mining, data interpretation, and report generation.

Responsibilities:

Below is a sample of projects a Strategic Solutions intern may work on.

  • Draft correspondences to the ICBA ThinkTech Accelerator cohort, ICBA Corporate Members, and ICBA Preferred Service Providers as needed.
  • Create and update vendor information including product descriptions, phone numbers and emails, sales records, marketing/sponsorship spend, etc. through the NetForum CRM and ICBA Solutions Directory.
  • Provide logistical support including calendar management, follow-up communications, contract management, and more supporting the ICBA Strategic Solutions group.
  • Review, revise, and schedule vendor-submitted content for ICBA e-newsletters and other publications.
  • Develop and share weekly activity reports of key program performance indicators.
  • Support the transition to ICBA's new Solutions Directory platform by guiding vendors through the process of updating listings, performing quality control, and ensuring adherence to ICBA standards.
  • Prepare data for modeling
  • Work with multiple datasets to extract insights
  • Assist in building and implementing statistical models
  • Communicate any insights or findings identified within data
  • Intern is expected to work 20 hours per week on average. Schedule is flexible within regular working hours so long as meeting obligations are met. Most work will be done remotely with occasional hours in ICBA's Washington DC office.
  • Potential for this position to continue part time throughout the school year

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a major in Marketing, Communications, or Business
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Prefer junior or senior, but will consider other class levels
  • An interest in communications, marketing, analytics, and creative solutions
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
